Open Invitation to Paint at The Art Center
Short on studio space? Bring some friends and use our space to paint! Bring your latest project and supplies. Beginners to advanced - just enjoy the company of other artists in a creative environment! Open Studio is available 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed on Sunday. Just call the Art Center to see if space is available.

Plein Air Trek Group
In August, the Plein Air Trek (PAT) group will meet on the 8th at White Forest Nursery; and on the 22nd at Hart Park. As usual, details will be emailed to everyone on the plein air list a few days before the event. Any member can request inclusion in our email list by notifying Norma Eaton at firstname.lastname@example.org or 661-633-4640.
Private Painting Class
Is your Sunday School class or “group of friends” looking for something to do as a group? How about a Private Painting Class. Each Participant will receive an 11”x14” canvas panel, acrylic paints, and one and a half hours of painting instruction. You may bring snacks for your guests, have a potluck snack., or order pizza. Cost $20 per person.

ART BIRTHDAY PARTIES
Have a birthday party with a different theme, ART. Birthday parties at the Art Center are generally scheduled for two hours and include art instruction plus all materials for one and a half hours. The host may then serve birthday cake, etc. Instead of the usual goodie bag, each guest goes home with an original 11”x14” acrylic painting as a souvenir of the party at the Center. Portraits in Colored Pencil II with Carol Bradshaw
This is a 6 week mini-course in doing a portraits in colored pencil. Two por- traits will be done during this class. Each of the facial features will be explored- head shape and proportions, eyes, nose, ears, mouth and hair. Students will use their own reference photo for their por- trait. Students may work in graphite or pen and ink or just use the information for a portrait study.
Classes are on Tuesdays from 9 to 12 p.m. Class dates: November 7, 14, & 21 and December 5, 12 & 19. No class No- vember 28 or December 26. Cost is $150 for the 6 week course or

Beginning Drawing II – Still life Fundamentals with Carol Bradshaw
This is the second set of an on-going structured series of six 3- hour classes in graphite. Learning to recognize and draw basic shapes is the focus of this series of classes, adding cylinders and rec- tangles to the ovoid, sphere and cone shapes previously used. Clas- ses are paired with the first class completing the contour layout drawing and the second developing the shading for form, cast shad- ows and other details. Three still-life compositions will be completed.
Classes are on Tuesdays from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Class dates: November 7, 14, & 21 and December 5, 12 & 19. No class November 28 or December 26. Cost is $150 for the46 week course.

A ”Portrait Day”- with Phyllis Oliver This class will focus on creating a portrait from a live model in the medium of your choice. It will be an open studio setting with a group critique at the end of the session.

Beginning Watercolor II with Carol Bradshaw
This is the second of four in a structured series of six 3-hour classes, for the person who has never painted in watercolor before, or for those who wish to brush up on the basics. Basic washes, brush strokes and some special techniques are covered. Three new colors will be introduced - a transparent triad.
Classes are on Fridays from 9 to 12. Class dates: October 27, November 3, 10 & 17 and December 8. No class November

Fall Classes with Norma Neil
Explore a variety of water- color techniques with this trio of Fall classes! On November 6, the holiday season will open with watercolor with mixed media will be explored using a collage of oriental and decorative tissues.

Beyond the Basics -Zentangle for ages 15 to Adult with Terry Hall and Lauren Vazquez
Zentangle Method is an easy-to- learn, relaxing and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. It’s a form of a healing and meditative art, very therapeutic. It helps increase your focus, creativity, relaxation, con- centration, self-esteem and so much more. You don’t draw? Don’t consider yourself an artist? Well, there is no artistic talent needed! We will show you how simple it is. There are only 4 elemental strokes to make all of these beautiful designs. To keep the “Zen” philosophy of the class we ask that you keep your small children and babies at home.

“Painting with Julie” -with Julie Fleming This is a mixed media class for adult beginners and intermediate painters who work in, or are interested in oil, watercolor or acrylic. The class motto, "No Mistakes in Art", expresses the stress level of this class.
Classes are on Mondays from 12:15 to 3:15 p.m. Class dates: Instructor will not be teaching until January 2018 –watch for dates! Cost: $25 per 3-hour class. Create Your Own Art Class - with Rebecca Haigh This is your chance to work on the project of your choice with individual- ized instruction as needed! Classes are for beginning and interme- diate students- all types of styles and media are encouraged, along with your own pictures and supplies.

Fun with Watercolor Pen and Ink with Iva Cross Fendrick: Find your creative side with watercolor and ink and learn fun ways of combining pen and ink and watercolor. If you like watercolor, then this is the class for you. No pressure-just fun!
