Open Invitation to Paint at The Art Center
Short on studio space? Bring some friends and use our space to paint! Bring your latest project and supplies. Beginners to advanced - just enjoy the company of other artists in a creative environment! Open Studio is available 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed on Sunday. Just call the Art Center to see if space is available.

Private Painting Class
Is your Sunday School class or “group of friends” looking for something to do as a group? How about a Private Painting Class. Each Participant will receive an 11”x14” canvas panel, acrylic paints, and one and a half hours of painting instruction. You may bring snacks for your guests, have a potluck snack., or order pizza. Cost $20 per person.

ART BIRTHDAY PARTIES
Have a birthday party with a different theme, ART. Birthday parties at the Art Center are generally scheduled for two hours and include art instruction plus all materials for one and a half hours. The host may then serve birthday cake, etc. Instead of the usual goodie bag, each guest goes home with an original 11”x14” acrylic painting as a souvenir of the party at the Center. Cost is $20 per person. Reservations at 869-2320 or party hostess at 661-330-2676.

Thursday Evening Adult Drawing Classes for ages 18 and over with Jill Iverson Two drawing classes which build on each other but which can be taken separately. February 7th- Introduction to perspective, showing how to use it in landscapes and animals. February 21st-continues with perspective in mind and will include more about value, line, and composition. Classes are on Thursdays from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Class dates: February 7th and 21st. Cost: All materials included. Pre-registration is required! Introduction to Zentangle- Simply Zentangle for ages 15 and up with Terry Hall. Zentangle Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. It’s a form of a healing and meditative art, very therapeutic. It is like yoga for the mind. It helps increase your focus, creativity, relaxation, concentration, self-esteem and so much more. No artistic talent is needed! Anyone can do it. To keep the “Zen” philosophy of the class we ask that you keep your small children and babies at home.
Class is on Saturday from 11:30-2:00 pm. Class Dates: February 2nd. Cost is $35, which includes your materials. Beyond the Basics in Gray- for ages 15 and up with Terry Hall In this class Students will learn ways to combine a variety of beautiful tangle patterns, techniques for shading their artwork, and ways to incorporate the meditative aspect of this art form into their Zentangle practice and art. Class fee is $35 which includes your Materials supply kit. PAINT! Acrylic painting made easy with Toni Lott Learn basic techniques of composition, brush techniques, mixing colors, finishing details and more.
Classes are on Saturdays from 1-4 p.m. Class dates: February 2, 9 & 23rd. No class February 16th. Cost: $20 for the 3 hour session with all supplies provided for an 11 x 14 painting. Beginning Drawing II – Still-life Fundamentals with Carol Bradshaw This is the second set of an on-going structured series of six 3-hour classes in graphite. Learning to recognize and draw basic shapes in creating still lifes is the focus of this series of classes, adding cylinders and rectangles to the ovoid, sphere and cone shapes previously used. Classes are paired with the first class completing the contour layout drawing and the second developing the shading for form, cast shadows and other details. Three still-life compositions will be completed. Classes are on Tuesdays from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Class dates: February 12, & 19 & 26th. No class February 5th. “Painting with Julie”, with Julie Fleming This is a mixed media class for adult beginners and intermediate painters who work in, or are interested in oil, watercolor or acrylic. The class motto, "No Mistakes in Art", expresses the stress level of this class. Classes are on Mondays from 12 to 3 p.m. Class dates: No classes scheduled in February. Watch for dates. Create Your Own Art Class - with Rebecca Haigh. This is your chance to work on the project of your choice with individualized instruction as needed! Classes are for beginning and intermediate students. All types of styles and media are encouraged, along with your own pictures and supplies. Classes are on Mondays, from 9 to 12 p.m. Class dates: February 4, 11, 18 & 25th. Cost: $20 per 3-hour class. Color Schemes for Watercolor-with Carol Bradshaw This 6 week mini-course will explore the use of different color schemes in your art work from monochromatic to Tetradic and some in between! Although this class focuses on using water-color, the concept applies to other media as well. The same subject can be used for each color scheme or a different subject for each one. Classes are on Thursdays from 9 to 12 p.m. Class dates: Analogous & Analogous with complement-February 14, Triadic (3 Colors)-February 21 & Tetradic (4 Colors)-February 28th. No class February 7th. Fun with Watercolor Pen and Ink with Iva Cross Fendrick. Find your creative side with watercolor and ink and learn fun ways of combining pen and ink and watercolor. If you like watercolor, then this is the class for you. No pressure-just fun! Classes are on Wednesdays, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Class dates: February 6. 13. 20 & 27th. Watercolor and Drawing-Seascapes-Intermediate- with Carol Bradshaw This is a 6 week mini-course of three hour paired classes in seascapes. The first of the paired classes develops the layout drawing from your reference photo, establishing the center of interest and the light direction and the second completes painting in watercolor. The focus will be on saving whites and skies. Three seascapes will be done, with one with a lighthouse. Bring your own photos!
